Further Questions

Very popular in the school setting
Why is it so popular?
Findings demonstrate that a standards-based, inquiry science curriculum can lead to standardized achievement test gains in historically underserved urban students, when the curriculum is highly specified, developed, and aligned with professional development and administrative support.
Can this method benefit teachers whose concerns are standardized testing. How do we get them on board?
Evaluation is the final stage, similiar to other models
What are the steps or stages involved in this process?
Six Stages:
1. Task Definition
2. Information Seeking Strategies
3. Location/Access
4. Use of Information
5. Synthesis
6. Evaluation
How is this adaptable to all grade levels at an elem. school?

Does it have to be completed in order?
Can happen in order but doesn't have to.

Does each stage involve a lot of depth?
Some stages are short and some are long but most successful inquiry involve completion of all stages. & Each stage has contains 2 sub-stages

What age groups use this model?
for any grade, any subject and even workplace
How would you implement this in the workplace with adult peers outside of the school setting?

Further Questions
A method based on researchers own experience
How to get learners to see research is link to their emotions
Findings demonstrate that a standards-based, inquiry science curriculum can lead to standardized achievement test gains in historically underserved urban students, when the curriculum is highly specified, developed, and aligned with professional development and administrative support.
Can this method benefit teachers whose concerns are standardized testing. How do we get them on board?
There is a phase of uncertainty
How to integrate researchers feelings or prior knowledge in research
process without losing them along the way
The phase of uncertainty is to allow students the opportunity to formulate questions and reach an understanding
With the exception of early learners, how impactful is this method with pre-teens or teens, who don't won't to be wrong.
Has 6 stages/prcoesses
What are the steps and how do they apply to subject matter?
Six Steps: Initation, selection, exploration, formulation, collection, presentation
Do students and teachers really like this method?
More learner focused
Are the steps sequential ?
Typically they are in this order but not always

How many schools use this method?

Will a student go through all phases or just some?
Most of the time the learner goes through all but but required and students may spend more time in one process than another
Is there documentation of this method being successful?
